LOCATION: Tasmania

CONTRACT: Casual - Project Based

ROLE: SAFETY OFFICER

We are looking for a Safety Officer for our projects across Tasmania.

As a Safety Officer at Bentley Workspaces, you will be crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel involved in office design and fitout projects. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will assist in implementing and maintaining rigorous safety standards and procedures throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Objectives & Deliverables:

  • Ensure Safety Compliance: Work with us to make sure every aspect of our projects meets local and international safety regulations and standards.

  • Minimize Safety Risks: Help us identify and mitigate potential safety risks, keeping our work environment safe and secure.

  • Promote Safety Culture: Foster a culture of safety awareness and accountability among our team and subcontractors.

  • Timely Documentation: Ensure all our safety documentation is accurate and up-to-date, meeting regulatory requirements.

  • Effective Communication: Facilitate clear communication of safety policies, procedures, and updates to all stakeholders.

Day-to-day

  • Safety Briefings: Participate in or lead daily safety briefings to ensure all team members are aware of the day's activities and potential safety hazards.

  • Site Inspections: Conduct routine site inspections to identify and rectify any immediate safety concerns.

  • Monitoring Work Practices: Observe and monitor work practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols.

  • Incident Response: Respond to any safety incidents or near-misses promptly, conducting initial investigations and reporting findings.

  • Updating Safety Logs: Keep safety logs and records updated daily, documenting inspections, incidents, and corrective actions taken.

  • Communication with Teams: Maintain regular communication with project teams to address any safety concerns or questions they may have.

  • Equipment Checks: Ensure all safety equipment and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) are in good condition and used correctly.

  • Safety Meetings: Attend regular safety meetings with the Senior Safety Officer and other stakeholders to discuss ongoing safety issues and improvements.

  • Training and Mentoring: Assist in delivering safety training sessions and mentoring team members on best safety practices.

  • Be involved in on-site operations, coordination & reporting

  • Record daily site activities and update the Projects team.

  • Drive + initiate communications amongst the Projects Team.

You have…

  • A can-do attitude and the mindset to succeed.

  • Relevant certifications in Occupational Health and Safety in construction industry.

  • Drivers Licence

  • White Card

  • To pass Police check

  • To obtain medical check

Work Environment:

  • This role involves regular site visits and close interaction with our project teams and subcontractors.

  • Flexibility to work as needed by the project.
