LOCATION: HOBART, TASMANIA
FULL TIME ROLE
ROLE: SITE MANAGER
The Site Manager is Bentley's leader on site and is accountable for the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of all commercial fitout projects across Tasmania from site establishment through to practical completion and handover.
Your role is to ensure Bentley's commitments are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the high standards our clients expect.
You will take ownership of the site, coordinate trades, drive the construction programme, maintain quality and safety standards, and keep the Project Manager informed of progress, risks and decisions required.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is organised, proactive and comfortable making things happen on site.
The impact of this role goes beyond completing a build. How our sites are managed directly shapes the experience our clients have with Bentley and the reputation we build in the market.
Core Responsibilities

Take ownership of the day to day operation of assigned construction sites
Lead Bentley site labour, subcontractors and trades with clear expectations and accountability
Forecast labour requirements and communicate resource needs in advance
Manage daily site productivity and identify opportunities for improved efficiency
Coordinate daily activities, sequencing and access requirements
Be the primary Bentley representative on site
Create a positive and respectful site culture
Programme
Assist in the development of construction programmes during project planning
Review programme logic, durations and sequencing based on site realities
Monitor actual progress against programme and implement corrective actions where required
Plan works ahead rather than managing the site reactively
Coordinate trades against upcoming milestones
Identify programme risks and constraints early
Escalate delays immediately with a proposed solution
Maintain visibility of what is happening today, this week and in the weeks ahead
Safety & Compliance
Take responsibility for maintaining a safe and compliant Bentley site
Conduct site inductions and toolbox meetings
Ensure subcontractors have current SWMS and required documentation
Monitor site activities against WHS requirements
Maintain site records and documentation
Escalate safety or compliance concerns immediately
Quality
Understand the drawings, specifications and agreed scope before works commence
Monitor workmanship throughout construction rather than waiting until completion
Coordinate quality inspections and rectification
Protect the design intent while maintaining buildability
Maintain high standards of presentation through to practical completion
Coordinate consultant, client and authority inspections
Prepare the project for practical completion, handover and defects liability obligations
Drive defects and incomplete works to closure before practical completion
Trade & Subcontractor Coordination
Provide construction input during trade procurement and scope reviews
Assist in assessing subcontractor capability, methodology and programme suitability
Coordinate subcontractors so everyone understands scope, sequence and expectations
Confirm upcoming trades are ready before they arrive on site
Identify clashes and dependencies early
Hold subcontractors accountable for programme, quality and site standards
Build strong relationships while being prepared to have clear conversations when standards are not being met
Communication, Reporting & Documentation
Maintain regular communication with the Project Manager
Maintain accurate site records including daily diaries, site instructions and progress tracking
Update programme information and project reporting systems as required
Provide regular progress updates to the Project Manager
Participate in project and site meetings as required
Communicate professionally with clients, consultants, building management and subcontractors
Raise issues early. No surprises.
Commercial Awareness
The Project Manager owns the overall commercial performance of the project, but the Site Manager plays an important role in protecting it.
You will:
Monitor labour productivity against project allowances
Understand the agreed project scope
Identify potential variations before additional work proceeds
Assist in assessing the cost impact of proposed variations or scope changes
Record site instructions and scope changes
Avoid unnecessary rework through good planning and coordination
Identify opportunities to improve project efficiency without compromising quality
Work with the Project Manager to find practical solutions that protect both the client outcome and project margin
What We Expect
We are looking for someone who can genuinely own a site.
That means being able to walk onto a project and understand:
Where are we today?
Where do we need to be next?
What could stop us getting there?
What needs to happen now?
We expect you to:
Be prepared and organised
Follow through on commitments
Communicate early rather than wait for problems to escalate
Take responsibility rather than pass problems on
Maintain high standards even when nobody is watching
Treat clients, subcontractors and teammates with respect
Be solutions focused when things do not go to plan
Ask for help early when it is needed
Keep learning and improving
We do not expect perfection. We do expect ownership.
